🌿 Native American Youth Craft Weekend – Reconnecting Our Youth to Omaha Traditions 🌿
The Umonhon Alcohol Drug Program invites the youth and families to join us for a special weekend of culture, healing, and craft-making. This is an opportunity for our young people to connect with Umonhon teachings, learn from respected community members, and carry forward Umonhon traditions that have strengthened our people for generations.
This is an awesome hands-on experience, learning the cultural significance and values behind traditional teachings. These teachings build identity, confidence, respect, and pride in who we are as Umonhon people.
✨ Saturday, June 13 | 12:00 PM
• Ribbon Skirts with LaTrisha Grant
• Umonhon Hairties with Cheryl Sheridan
✨ Sunday, June 14 | 12:00 PM
• Medicine Pouches with Myron Freemont Sr.
✅ All supplies provided
We encourage parents, grandparents, and guardians to bring their children and support them as they learn from our knowledge keepers. Every stitch, bead, and lesson is an opportunity to strengthen cultural connections and inspire the next generation to carry our traditions forward.
Together, we can help our youth build a strong foundation rooted in culture, community, and pride.
