The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska is proud to recognize Chris Fremont and Braeden Lovejoy for completing the Tribal Probation Academy, a nationally recognized training program dedicated to preparing Tribal Probation Officers to meet the unique needs of Tribal Nations and communities across Indian Country.
The Basic Tribal Probation Academy provides 120 hours of combined classroom instruction and practicum experience, delivered through a three-week program over three months. Participants receive training in 45 key topic areas designed to strengthen tribal justice systems and support community wellness.
Training topics include:
• Assisting with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) cases
• Recognizing signs of elder and child abuse
• Supervising individuals experiencing mental illness
• Writing clear and effective reports
• Exploring alternatives to incarceration
The Academy is built upon three important principles:
